Within the design system I developed for HQ, charting was imperative for our Portfolio Reporting section to show our clients there entire portfolio in a way that traditional Portfolio Reporting tools were unable to.
Light & Dark Mode
At the outset of creating the charting system for HQ, my primary responsibility was to establish an appropriate color scheme that ensured optimal readability and visual clarity, particularly in the extended charting colors and dark mode. Recognizing that the light mode colors lacked the necessary boldness on a dark background, I embarked on the task of identifying a palette that addressed this concern.By carefully selecting colors for the light mode, I then extended the same pattern to the chosen colors for dark mode, maintaining consistency and ensuring a cohesive visual experience across both modes. This meticulous approach allowed us to achieve charts that were not only visually appealing but also easy to comprehend, enhancing the overall usability of our charting system.
